Products : Conservatories : Roof Glazing
A well-planned conservatory needs appropriate glazing to ensure a comfortable living environment all year round and to conserve heat/energy. Whilst our Design Consultants will be happy to discuss the various options, the three main categories of roof we offer include glass, polycarbonate and clay.

Glass is still a popular choice as can match the walls and provide increased sound insulation. At Nolan uPVC, all our glass roofs are double-glazed with toughened glass in sealed units which makes them particularly heat efficient. Conversely, you don't want to over heat so heat reflective, anti glare glass is available in a variety of tints. And no, it doesn't affect how much light is let in.

Our clay roofs look great particularly alongside older properties and give the feeling of an extension or garden room rather than a conservatory. Call in to our Cardiff studio to see a fully built clay roof conservatory.

Polycarbonate roofing is extremely popular as it is less expensive, stronger yet lighter. It offers excellent insulation properties and can control light transmittance to eliminate glare and prevent unwanted heat building up inside a conservatory. It is available in different thicknesses and colours including clear, opal, bronze, bronze opal and heatguard opal. A summary of the various properties is given below.

Clear
> Maximises solar gain
> Allows you to make the most of the sun during the year
> Perfect for sun lovers though you may need blinds in summer
Opal
> Virtually opaque sheet
> Provides privacy especially for overlooked rooms
> Opal provides a soft glare free diffused light Internally the roof appears white
Bronze
> Blends discretely with other roof finishes, i.e. woodgrain pvc and timber
> Limits the amount of light and glare in the conservatory
> Retains spacious airy feeling
Bronze Opal
> Combines a bronze external with an opal internal surface
> The opal internal finish provides privacy and a soft light quality
> The bronze external finish blends discretely with other roof finishes, i.e. woodgrain pvc and timber
> BronzeOpal provides the best of both worlds
Heatguard Opal
> Deflects up to 50% of heat build up
> It helps to prevent the conservatory overheating in summer
> Combines the silver grey external finish with the popular opal internal finish
> Heatguard Opal should eliminate the need for blinds
