Double glazing is a sealed glazed unit with two panes of glass instead of one. This allows for a small pocket of air which is an excellent insulator. Triple glazing includes three panes of glass to increase this insulation effect even further with a second pocket of air. Nolan uPVC offers customers the opportunity to choose between double or triple glazing for most of our products. Both types of glazing provide excellent protection against the cold and noisy traffic and can keep homes comfortable throughout the year. However, triple glazing can be up to 40% more thermally efficient than certain kinds of uPVC double glazing. The additional third pane of glass can also greatly reduce draughts and cold spots from forming. Double glazing still has its own benefits, though, such as being lighter and more cost-effective to develop.
